AWWU's Pump Station 54 experienced numerous maintenance issues including pump faults and check valve failures. CRW evaluated the facility and made recommendations for improvements, then designed a new wet well top slab and piping, isolation and check valves, a replacement generator, and all new electrical for the controls building. CRW also performed an analysis of the collection basin for existing and future flows, and sized and specified new facility pumps, which were procured separately on an emergency basis.

CRW provided design for AWWU’s new PRV facility that extended the 347 Pressure Zone (PZ) to the west and closer to the 260 PZ boundary, improving system pressures for customers between Old Seward and New Seward Highways. The above-grade facility included construction of a utility building to house the PRVs, piping, SCADA, and appurtenances. During construction, AWWU added an in-line turbine to generate electricity using the differential between pressure zones. The resulting power generation is used to supplement electrical loads for the nearby AWWU King Street Operations & Maintenance Facility.
