This pump station, originally constructed in 1982, was upgraded in 2008 with new piping, pumps, valves, lift station top slab, and standby generator. The 2008 lift station design was based on serving a fully built-out basin consisting of 204 homes. The addition of the Powder Ridge Subdivision required 98 more sewer service connections, which Pump Station 52 capacity could not adequately serve. CRW provided design, public involvement, permitting, bidding support, and construction support to upgrade the pump station in 2021 to serve the additional subdivision and accommodate future developments.Eagle River, AK

CRW provided civil and electrical design services to Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility for upgrading five wastewater lift stations in Anchorage and Eagle River. The upgrades incorporated telemetry and SCADA improvements, improved maintenance access, new auxiliary power generators, new pumps, and increased lift station capacity. Two of the stations, including Lift Station 53, required all new components.
Location: Eagle River, AK
Continual flooding in this project area was due to an undersized culver. A larger box culvert was installed to pass the required flood events. The stream grade through the culvert was set at 5.0%, with baffles to retain stream substrate and provide resting pools for fish. A low flow channel also meanders through the culvert providing a fish pathway.
Location: Eagle River, AK
Full-time construction management and on-site field inspection services were provided by CRW. Our personnel met daily with Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility's Project Engineer on-site to discuss construction progress, issues, and the schedule; and provided construction documentation including daily written reports, photograph logs, and quantity calculations.
