Mertarvik Sanitation Improvements

Location: Mertarvik, AK

CRW provided, planning, design (Plans and CSI format Specifications), permitting, and construction support services for water and sewer improvements in the new community of Mertarvik. The new community is being constructed to relocate residents of Newtok who are losing their community due to erosion by the Ninglik River. CRW designed four separate phases of sanitation improvements including pioneer services, a water treatment and distribution system, a sewer pump station and gravity sewer main, and sewage lagoon improvements. CRW has assisted with the Newtok to Mertarvik relocation since 2007.
