Below you will find the alternatives that are being considered.

Alternative 1 follows the intent of the original project. The roadway footprint stays the same and Independence Drive would be resurfaced. The existing 5- foot pathway on the east side of Independence Drive could be extended to Colony Loop but this would impact existing trees.

Alternative 2 narrows Independence Drive. It also continues the pathway on the east side to Colony Loop but would not impact the existing trees. It increases the pathway from 5 to 8 feet wide where there is sufficient right-of-way.

Alternative 3 is similar to Alternative 2 but shifts the roadway to provide a 6 to 8-foot buffer on the west side of the roadway. The 8-foot wide pathway on the east side of the roadway could be reduced to 5 feet to reduce impacts to the existing vegetation.

Alternative 4 provides 11-foot lanes and 5-foot shoulders for a total roadway width of 36 feet. The buffer width on the east side of the roadway is shown at 1.5 feet in an effort to reduce impacts to the existing vegetation.
