This project began as a simple pavement resurfacing effort to improve the road surface and drainage along Independence Drive.
As the design began to take shape, the project team and community residents identified the need for sidewalk repairs, accessibility improvements for people with disabilities, and for an evaluation of traffic calming measures that address speeding concerns.
In response to these concerns, the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) increased the funding for the project and developed two alternatives for the community to review.
