Other projects occurring within the downtown area will play a significant role in E Street’s redevelopment.
- One block west at F Street and 7th Avenue is the site of the new convention center, which will regularly bring thousands of pedestrians to Anchorage’s streets.
- Three blocks east is the Anchorage Museum, which is expanding to provide additional gallery space and a two acre urban forest.
- To the south is the Delaney Park Strip, a popular resource for Anchorage residents and the focus of an ongoing master plan update that will redefine the long range vision for the park strip.
- At the north end of E Street are Ship Creek and the Alaska Railroad Depot, which is being transformed into an intermodal transportation hub to link travelers with the tidewater ports of Seward and Whittier, the Ted Stevens International Airport, the Mat-Su Valley, Denali National Park, and Fairbanks.
- Given E Street’s prominent position in the heart of downtown, it will play a critical role in linking all of these future developments along with existing destinations like the Egan Center, Town Square Park, the Performing Arts Center, and the 5th Avenue Mall.
