The E Street enhancement project design strategies will focus on the following:
Iconic urban design
E Street will capture the essence of Alaska with distinctive design elements that will enhance tourism and promote civic pride. Redevelopment will be coordinated with existing and future downtown land uses.
3-D design
The design plan will create a sense of “place” for pedestrians and activities through the application of lighting, color, texture, and grouping of streetscape elements.
Manageable zones and nodes of interest
Pedestrian scale will be promoted by establishing distinctive zones based on unique characteristics. Overall design schemes will stress connectivity between nodes to enable movement throughout the corridor.
